Social media strategy & content creation in Oregon

The goal isn't to go viral. It's to capture the right people.

I'm Kelly, a Eugene-based social media strategist who specializes in social shorts. Think TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. I help brands across Oregon, from Portland to Medford, figure out what to post, make it with them, and get it in front of the people who actually buy from them.

Monthly plans start at $1,699/month, with a 3-month minimum.

How social media changed

Social media works a whole lot differently than it used to.

It used to be all about the aesthetic. A perfect grid, models, studio lights, branding on everything. Now the content that works looks like someone talking to their phone on the way to a meeting.

Here's the story that changed how I think about it. A few years ago, I was on a team that spent close to $10,000 flying a photographer and models to Arizona for a social media shoot. The photos were beautiful.

The post got 159 likes on an account with 40,000 followers.

Then we made a Reel in about 20 minutes. Some text on screen, a relatable moment at the drive-thru and a funny GIF. It got more than 2,000 likes, about 13 times as many.

People don't share perfect. They share things they see themselves in.

Here's the thing

The data backs this up, every time.

Say you have 100 followers. When you post a photo or carousel, only some of them will see it, so you're reaching fewer than 100 people.

Social shorts get shown to people who don't follow you yet. Post Reels, keep trying new formats, and you can reach thousands of new people per video. I see this pattern on every account I work with. Here's how I approach content creation.

What I tell almost every client

It comes down to a good idea people relate to.

It doesn't matter what time of day you post. It doesn't matter what your feed looks like. It doesn't even matter if your video is the most beautiful one out there. It matters whether people see themselves in it.

Going viral isn't the goal

There are a lot of online coaches promising "post at this time and you'll go viral." It drives me bonkers. Viral reach to the wrong audience confuses the algorithm. You want to reach the right people, again and again.

Real example: one client was reaching 5,000+ people a post, mostly in India. A few tweaks later, most were in the Pacific Northwest.

Don't overthink it

When someone tells me "I don't know what to post," they're usually just overthinking it. Social media is a test-and-learn process. You try things on, see what your audience gravitates to, and do more of what works.

The catch: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. That's where strategy comes in.

Pick a couple of formats

You don't need to do everything. B-roll with text, quick-answer interviews, skits, challenges, tips. Choose one or two that fit your team and get good at them.

Starting point: quick-answer interviews are the easiest way to get camera-shy teams comfortable.

How we can work together

You don't have to do this alone.

Some brands want me in their account every month. Others just need someone to tell them what to post and why. Either way, I've got you.

Monthly partnership

Social media management & content creation

Every month, we figure out what to say, create it together and keep learning from what works.

  • A strategy built around your goals. It starts with your Social Playbook in month one, then a monthly strategy session to keep it sharp.
  • Two or three posts a week. Social shorts, carousels or a mix, depending on your audience and your goals.
  • Content that sounds like you. I bring the ideas and hooks. You share what you know, and I turn it into posts you're proud of.
  • Easy for the right people to find. Captions written for search, plus custom thumbnails.
  • Your own client portal. Plans, approvals and assets in one place in Asana.
  • Publishing and a monthly recap. Included on the three-posts-a-week plan.

Who I work with: service-based brands across Oregon

The less "Instagrammable" you think you are, the more fun this gets.

Utilities, IT companies, trades, professional services. Brands people assume aren't made for social are often the ones with the best stories to tell.

We'll work really well together if

  • You're a service-based brand that knows social matters but hasn't cracked it yet.
  • You have a small marketing team, or a team of one, who needs a strategist and a steady stream of content.
  • You're open to real faces on camera, even if it's not you at first.
  • You're ready to commit a few months to testing and learning.

I'm probably not your person if

  • You need a videographer to film an event or a polished brand film. I can refer you to someone great.
  • You want a guaranteed viral video. Nobody can honestly promise that.
  • You want every post perfectly polished with your logo on it.

What working with me feels like

Making content with me feels like hanging out with a friend.

Here's the thing: you're already an expert. So instead of producing a word-by-word script, you get a simple outline and questions you can answer off the top of your head. We film everything on our Osmo Pocket 3 so the camera pointing at you feels less intimidating.

Not comfortable on camera yet? That's fine. We can start with B-roll and text, or a voiceover, and build up from there.

  1. Plan

Every month starts with research: what's trending, what your audience is searching for and what your business needs right now. That turns into ideas, hooks and outlines for the month.

  2. Create

We turn those ideas into two or three posts a week. Some will be social shorts, some carousels, and the mix shifts as we learn what your audience loves.

  3. Post

Every post is built to be found. Keywords go into the caption, the on-screen text and what's said on camera, plus location tags, so your content reaches people nearby who are searching for what you do.

  4. Test & learn

We look at what worked and what didn't, then do more of what's working next month.

I love the way you've been weaving in the conversations we've been having about our direction for next year in the content concepts you've been suggesting. It totally feels like we're on the right track here.

The thumbnails, the captions and the videos were all very well done. I didn't expect anything less, but I appreciate you being a total pro and so easy to work with!

Kelly Winberg, founder of Reel Good Social, smiling in a green sweater

Hi, I'm Kelly

Most people stop at the post. I look at the whole funnel.

I have an MBA and over 10 years in marketing here in Oregon, running digital marketing departments for agencies: paid media, SEO, websites, all of it. Social media is the thing I kept falling back in love with.

That background is why I look past the views. What happens next matters just as much: your profile, your link in bio, your website, the DM automations that catch interest and the emails that follow. That's how attention turns into customers.

Social media is also the most misunderstood marketing channel, and one of the hardest to hire for locally. It takes someone strategic, creative and scrappy, who's willing to try things over and over until they know what works. So I built Reel Good Social, my social media agency, to be exactly that. I'm based in Eugene and work with brands across Oregon.

Questions I get a lot

Social media management FAQs

How much does social media management cost?

Monthly plans start at $1,699/month for two posts a week, or $2,249/month for three posts a week with publishing included. Both start with a $499 startup that includes your Social Playbook, and have a 3-month minimum. If you'd rather start with a plan your team can run, The Social Playbook is a one-time $1,499 strategy. Not ready for either? The Reel Rundown and my free Social Hour workshops are a great place to start. Full details are on the pricing page.

Do I have to be on camera?

Nope, not right away. We can start with B-roll and text, or a voiceover, and build up from there. When you are ready, I'll ask you questions you can answer from your own expertise instead of handing you a script. Most people are surprised how much easier that feels.

Do you work with brands outside Eugene?

Yes. Reel Good Social is a social media agency based in Eugene, and I work with brands all over Oregon, including Portland, Bend, Medford and the Coast. For on-site work outside Eugene, a travel fee may apply, and we'll always talk about that upfront.

How long does it take to see results?

Social media is test and learn. The first month shows us what lands, and every month after gets sharper. That's why every partnership starts with a 3-month minimum. Consistency is what the algorithm rewards.
